Winfield Unified School District #465

Message from Activities Director

A Welcome Letter from the Athletic Director

Dear Winfield Viking Community,

On behalf of the Winfield Activities/Athletic Department, we welcome all students to participate in our interscholastic activities programs. Interscholastic Activities are an excellent way to grow emotionally, socially, and physically as an individual. Because of sports and activities, the lessons from the coaches, sponsors and the activities played, students will develop skills in time management, problem solving, delegation, motivation, and team building.

Winfield High School participates in the AVCTL (Ark Valley Chisolm Trail League) and Winfield Middle School participates in the Pioneer League. Both schools are members of KSHSAA (Kansas State High School Athletic Association). All rules and regulations handed down by these governing bodies will be adhered to at all times.

As a member of the Winfield Viking family, our expectations for you are similar to any family’s expectations. Act responsibly as you represent our school district.  Remember that you are an ambassador for everyone who attends our school.  How you act and react to situations reflects not only on you, but also on your parents, peers, team, and school.

USD 465 Activities wants to assure the community that every decision that we make in our programs and throughout our Activities Department is with the future and well-being of Winfield and our student activities participants. Winning is very important but it will not be pursued at the expense of our integrity. We want our students to know that our commitment to them and our program extends beyond the fields, courts, and rooms. We want our students to look back years from now and know that they were more important to us than winning an activity.

Students:

Our primary concern is the education of the student-athlete/activities participants. We expect all who choose to participate in our activities programs to be responsible students. We hope you will take full advantage of this opportunity to get a top-notch high school education while participating in our activities programs. As a student activities participant, your academic responsibilities, studying, going to and participating in class to the best of your ability is paramount. Take pride in the opportunity to represent the Winfield Vikings in a first class manner.

Go Vikings!
