Transportation

Transportation Department

Transportation Director Mark O'Neil and Secretary Crystal Winegarner are your first contacts at the Bus Barn here at Winfield Public Schools. The Bus Barn is located at 1701 Menor.   Rules for students on the bus are the same as the rules for behavior in the classroom. If it is not permissible in the classroom, it is not permissible on the bus.   Remember that any time your student is not going to ride the bus you must contact the bus barn to let them know. Our first priority is your child(ren)'s safety. Please contact us with any questions or concerns at 620-221-5145.

Basic Bus Rules

As your child's transportation provider, we want to make sure your child’s trip to and from school is as enjoyable as possible. We all play a role in achieving this goal. In order to get your child to school safe, on-time, and ready to learn, it’s important that he or she understands the school bus safety rules. Please discuss the rules listed below with your child prior to the start of school.

  • Stay in your seat.
  • Keep the noise level down. No profanity.
  • Keep head, hands, and feet inside the bus and out of the aisles.
  • Don’t throw things inside the bus or out the windows.
  • No eating or drinking on the bus.
  • Keep the bus clean.
  • No smoking or tobacco on the bus.
  • Don’t be destructive.
  • Be courteous to the bus driver and your fellow riders.
  • Cooperate with the driver.
  • If a student does not ride for 2 days, and parents do not notify the bus barn that the student(s) will not be riding, the bus will not stop for the student again until the transportation secretary has been called. We want your student riding the bus, but cannot continue to stop at homes where students have not let us know they will not be riding.
