Information about State Assessment

Like children in schools across America, Winfield students must take state assessments in reading and math.  These assessments are required by the 2002 law "No Child Left Behind," and the results are used to figure our schools Adequate Yearly Progress.

The target for these assessments is that 100% of students will be proficient in reading and math according to their states' tests by 2014.

Each spring, Winfield students in grades 3-8 take both math and reading assessments.  High school students also take a math and reading assessment during their high school years but may be tested at different grades.  High school students may take the test twice if they are not proficient on the first assessment.

Kansas Department of Education website has a page of useful links for parents on its website.
