Social Worker - Community Day School - There is an opening for the 20.21 school year for a School Social Worker at the Community Day School in Winfield. The social worker will (1) provide psycho-social group sessions, (2) provide individual therapy/counseling, (3) be the community link for students who are receiving mental health with any provider outside of the Community Day School, (4) collaborate with the teacher to provide social skills instruction, data collection, sensory breaks, develop positive behavior support plans for students, (5) be the liaison for students transitioning into or out of the Community Day School, (6) write social emotional goals/establish baseline information associated with the goals/monitor student progress toward meeting those goals, (7) bill school-based Medicaid using WebKidss to recoup portions of the costs for providing these therapeutic services, and (8) be a child/family advocate and team player. This list of duties is not all-inclusive. Especially important is that the applicant have a passion for helping children who come from difficult circumstances. License required – Licensed Master Social Worker or Licensed Master Clinical Social Worker. Social Workers hired will be placed on the USD 465 Teachers Salary Schedule according to their professional experience and degree earned. The beginning salary for a school psychologist with no years of experience is $52,000 per year. The school psychologist works and is paid for an additional hour per school day and an additional 10 days per school year. The Board of Education contributes $400/month toward the purchase of a single membership for health insurance for the employee as well. This benefit is worth $4,800/school year on top of the annual salary.
Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for 2020/2021 school year - Cowley County Special Services Cooperative. This teacher will work with students with disabilities 3 - 5 years of age. The teacher must be properly licensed (i.e., ECSE licensed or Birth – Age 8 Unified) to serve this population of students or have a teaching license and be taking/be willing to take coursework toward this licensure.
At the present time there is an opening is at the Winfield Early Learning Center. Other Preschool Special Education Teaching positions may come open as well at that site or at other sites throughout the county. Cowley County Special Services Cooperative employs 16 SLPs to work with students with disabilities throughout the cooperative. Average caseloads run from 45 – 60 students. There are multiple opportunities to team with and collaborate with other SLPs throughout the school year. In addition, the Coop pays registration fees for workshops to assist SLPs in obtaining CEUs to maintain licensure and has veteran SLPs who are willing to supervise the CFY for beginning SLPs.
