            <p></p><div class="edit"><p>The U.S.D. 465 Board of Education announces that Dr. Nathan Reed will be the next superintendent of the district and will begin his duties in Winfield July 1. The board voted unanimously during a special Monday evening meeting to offer the position to Reed, the offer was accepted.</p>  <p>Currently superintendent of U.S.D. 310 (Fairfield), Reed earned his doctorate in educational leadership from Wichita State University. He previously had been principal of grades 6-12 in Deerfield (Kan.), assistant principal at Colvin Elementary and Irving Elementary in Wichita, and an elementary school teacher in Lakin and in Andover.</p>  <p>“We were impressed by Dr. Reed’s commitment to relationships and his quiet leadership in his district,” says Lyle Weinert, president of the U.S.D. 465 board. “It was especially intriguing to see the process by which he led administrators in his district in analyzing areas of concern, and building plans to deal with these concerns.”</p>  <p>Weinert adds that Reed was profiled in a recent issue of the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) publication, with explanations of how the Fairfield district is dealing with a high percentage of low-income students, student mobility, and absentees.</p>  <p>In addition to his leadership of U.S.D. 310, Reed is an adjunct instructor in the Fort Hays State University master’s program and is a member of the FHSU Ed.S. advisory council. He is a graduate of the KASB’s Leaders for Tomorrow class of 2014-15, and has been a professional development leader and designer. He also organized a bond issue in Fairfield, and has been the district budget writer. </p>  <p>A native of Lakin, Reed earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree from FHSU, where he was a two-time NCAA All-American in track and was on the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference all-conference academic team. </p>  <p>Reed and his wife, Chelsea, will move to the Winfield area with their two children, Tyler, 7, and Teryl, 4.</p></div><p></p>

Lowers is currently serving as Executive Director of Special Education, Central
Kansas Cooperative in Education, Salina, Kansas.&nbsp; He is in his 5th year in this position.&nbsp; Previous to being named Executive Director,
Mr. Lowers was the Assistant Director of Special Education.&nbsp; He has also served as a middle school
principal and assistant principal, and as a 7-12th grade principal.&nbsp; Mr. Lower has&nbsp; served as a counselor and high school
teacher.&nbsp; He has also taught as an
adjunct professor at numerous colleges and universities.</span><p></p>

<div><p></p><div class="edit"><p></p><div class="edit"><p><b>USD 465 Selects Finalists in Superintendent Search</b></p>  <p></p><div class="edit"><p>USD 465 Board of Education (BOE) met in a special meeting Wednesday, January 24 to select finalists for the superintendent’s position.&nbsp; Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB) representative, Craig Wilford, presented the BOE with 17 applicants’ resumes to replace outgoing Superintendent, J.K. Campbell.&nbsp;</p>  <p>Scheduled dates and finalists are as follows:</p>  <p>Monday, January 29 – Dr. Nathan Reed, Superintendent, USD 310 – Fairfield, KS.</p>  <p>Tuesday, January 30 – Dr. Julie McPherron, Superintendent, USD 359 – Argonia, KS.</p>  <p>Wednesday, January 31 – Mike Lowers, Executive Director of Special Education, USD 305 – Salina, KS.</p>  <p>"We believe, with the guidance of KASB, we have selected three strong candidates." stated BOE President, Lyle Weinert.&nbsp;</p>  <p>Each Candidate will be in the district for a full day of meetings with district administrators, teachers, and staff, touring facilities, attending receptions, dinner, and interview.&nbsp;</p>  <p>Staff, students, and community are encouraged to attend receptions in the Board Room at William Medley Administration Center each day. Receptions with teachers and staff will be from 4-4:30 p.m. Receptions with students and community members will be from 4:30-5 p.m.&nbsp;Media are invited to a special media reception from 5-5:15 p.m.&nbsp;</p>  <p>At 5:30 p.m. each evening the BOE will hold a special meeting for dinner then recess and re-convene at William Medley Administration Center for the remainder of the interview process in executive session.&nbsp;</p></div><p></p></div><br><p></p></div><p></p></div>
