Winfield, KS — Early Monday morning, a sense of excitement filled the air as Superintendent Reiser, Assistant Superintendent Phil Bressler, and the Business Manager Elizabeth Smith met with the staff of the Winfield High School band, choir, and orchestra. They gathered to share some thrilling news that promises to enrich the school's music program for years to come.
JoAnn Newman, a beloved former resident of Cowley County, has left a generous legacy in her will to the WHS music program. This incredible gift is over and above the support already provided by the district, and it will significantly benefit the band, choir, and orchestra.
The music programs at WHS will each receive $6,000 annually, culminating in a total of $18,000 per year for the next nine years. In the tenth year, they will receive a final installment of $761.77, which will conclude this remarkable gift. The only condition attached to this donation is that it must be used to enrich and enhance the music program.
Superintendent Reiser expressed her enthusiasm about the donation, explaining how it will be used to elevate the experiences of the students involved in the band, choir, and orchestra.
The WHS music staff is already buzzing with ideas on how to best utilize these funds -- stay tuned to see the excited ways they plan to utilize this generous donation.
This announcement marks a wonderful start to the week here at USD 465! #WinningInWinfield
